Testing is a Piece of Cake!

Its Baylee’s first time at standardized testing and the poor girl really had a very anxious spirit. It had a lot to do with the hype the teachers were making of it, stressing the importance of doing your best, not realizing how “some people” (Baylee) internalize things. Poor girl! With lots of prayer, scripture meditation, mega love, and reassurance we sent her off to school for two days telling her, “Baylee, testing is a piece of cake!” And indeed, even after the first day she too boasted that it was! So each night she got to request a different cake to eat and enjoy.
Day one: carrot cake with cream cheese frosting (of course)
Day two: lemon bars

Baylee’s teacher is Amazing with a capital A! She made the mood in the classroom so peaceful. The kids got to chew gum to help their brain, wear slippers to relax, and enjoy some brainfood they made together. They even brainstormed what a good tester looks like and posted it on the front wall to refer to.

Baylee’s really looking forward to AIMS testing next year that covers many many many more days, which means, many many many cakes! She’s a girl after my own heart!

A Gift From the Heart

One of my favorite outlets is crafting, although I do not do it as often as I'd like (or have the budget to). My friends and family are great at encouraging me to craft and from time to time I sell them as well. Baylee’s teacher is pregnant and we threw her a “shower” to welcome her second child, first boy! I sat down and made her this name plate for her to hang on his door or wall. I’m thrilled she loves it and that it matches his room that is patiently awaiting his arrival in August.

(I’ve been asked to post this from friends that knew I was making something but didn’t have a chance to see it. I wish the details in the nameplate can be seen. This photo doesn't capture it all.)

Mrs. Runyon, We Appreciate YOU!

~In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week!~
(photo taken on the first day of school)

Mrs. Runyon,
You are very a sweet teacher. You are like a flower blooming. You are thoughtful, caring, and all the character traits we learn about in school and you have all the Fruits of the Spirit. Thank you for all of the kindness you have done. You make me feel like I am a very good student. You make me feel very loved and important. I wish that you would be a third and fourth grade teacher too so I can keep you forever as a teacher. I love you.
Love, Baylee (written and typed by Baylee...all on her own)

Kelly, you are one of a kind. I absolutely thank you for loving Baylee and making her feel very special all the time. She has ventured out and shown those around her, her sweet and silly personality and that is a testament of the safety you provide in that classroom. For that alone, you should be applauded! Kelly, you make everyone feel valued, like a precious jewel ready to be shined and put on display. Baylee feels like she can do anything and gladly takes risks and shows what she knows. That wouldn’t happen with just “anyone”! We love your silly, creative, a gentle ways. You make the classroom a warm and inviting. I LOVE working side by side with you as a team and am thrilled for more of it next school year. Thank you for all of your thought, hard work, and energy into our daughter’s life. You will forever be an extraordinary person in our life that we praise God for. May God bless you for blessing us!
Love,
Kymberly
