Go Sharks...Nathan's First Baseball Game
It resembled Christmas in our home. Nathan was ecstatic for his first baseball game and we made a big deal out of it!
We began with a big breakfast with Grandma Sally, and then welcomed Papa D to hang out with us for the day. 10:00 AM came slowly, but finally did and we were off to the park to experience something I don’t think we’ll ever forget.
Nathan and the rest of the 13 “Sharks” (as they named themselves) did a fantastic job and to my earnest prayers, had no injuries to account for. Praise God.
Although their age level is “coach pitch” the two team coaches decided that it was the best interest for the kids to have a “tee” out the entire game. (Another Praise God!) No strike outs, no scores, no homeruns, no foul balls…just good ol’ playing baseball, beginner style. Everyone was at bat equally and didn’t leave the plate until each “hit” and ran to first base.
Our #9, Nathan, hit the ball right away round one. The second time around he swung with all his might, making the bat swing out from his hands which gave him the same vocal response from everyone around, “Wow, he’s strong!” (So sweet, no embarrassment on his end), and then the third time to bat, he did a spectacular job once again. Nathan ran with all his might and reports to us that running was his all-time favorite thing about the game!
We talked to Nathan that baseball players have a “ready position” when on the field, you know, hand’s on knees and eyes glued to the ball. It sunk in. Every time I looked at him (which I think was the entire time), his precious two hands were on his knees ready for any ball to come. It paid off too; he got the ball many times, no matter what traveling position the coach had him on (3rd base, shortstop, and pitcher). Way to go Nathan!
He is eager for next Saturday at 11:45! Come see a game with us sometime. We have 8 total. We’d love to cheer with you.

P.S. Notice the team color (teal with black lettering)? Thanks for your votes and predictions; it was fun for Nathan to get the blogging world involved.
