Birthday Weekend

My dear, silly, loving husband turned 37 years young today and because of his very busy work schedules, we've had to slip in small forms of celebrations here and there all week long. So Jon…happy birth’week’ we love you!

On Thursday, Jon took the night off from work so we could go out for a family dinner (first one since October). Of course he picked his very favorite restaurant, Rosa's Mexican Grill. He got his "must have" a chicken chimichanga, enchilada style with red sauce with sour cream and guacamole (and who knows how many baskets of chips and salsa)! Afterwards, the birthday dessert presented to him “on the house” from a chorus of singing employees was only eaten by our Owen. Nobody else can muster up eating flan around here in its normal state of rubberiness. We're definitely, without a doubt, "texture people".

Saturday afternoon, the five of us headed to Tempe Town Lake for a surprise picnic and boat ride. Unfortunately there was a beer-fest going on at the park, so it was closed off. We found a different spot though, under the old Mill train track, yet next to the water. It was a great day for a picnic, setting off our rockets and playing a favorite throwing game (with one part permanently in the murky water…our accidental donation to the town). But because of the beer-fest, the “rental” plan for the motorized boat could not happen as planned. We were so bummed. The kids were dying to see their daddy be a “captain” of a boat. All motorized boats were a liability issue, we were told, due to the alcohol onsite. We found that so strange, especially since it was obvious we were not part of that crowd AND because they were still allowing paddle boats and such (no motorized boats) to be rented. Come on’, if someone is drunk, aren’t they a liability issue on any kind of boat, not just motorize?! Nevertheless, we settled for their “tour boat” (motorized…I’m so confused) with the promise from Jon that we’d return soon for him to show his ‘sailing’ abilities.

Today, Jon he had to work a double (his actual birthday). My mom, the kids and I surprised him though, by coming in and eating lunch at his table. We sang Happy Birthday and blew out candles in front of his costumers, a plus in the tip making eyes.

It was a great time celebrating a great man. Baylee, Nathan, and Owen are so very blessed to have Jon as their daddy and I am even more blessed to have him as my husband.

Happy Birthday, Jon!

I didn't even know you could do all that stuff at Tempe Town Lake. Too bad the beer-fest rained of your parade, but it sounds like you guys had fun anyways. I love keeping us with the Kempiak's!

Mmmm. I LOVE Rosa's, too. Have you tried Tia Rosa's? It was opened by the original owners of Rosa's. One of my favorite restaurants.

Where does Jon work?

Happy Birthday Jon. Jessica and Megan and I were just talking about you, when I spent the weekend with them over in Green Bay. We were out to eat at the Olive Garden , and we said we bet you made a lot of tips because of your outstanding smile and personality. Wish we could all fly over and have you be our server with the great big smile. We love you and we are all proud of you.
